Golden rules for being a successful Twitter executive
Twitter is undoubtedly one of the most popular social networking sites. There are millions of Twitter users and the tweets on Twitter get updated by the second. In such a large pool of Twitter users, it is likely that you go unnoticed. However, some people do manage to become celebrities on Twitter, having 1:1000 following to followers ratio. This on Twitter is an achievement and an accolade. How do they manage to do it? Here are some practices they typically follow.
Successful executives on Twitter lay emphasis on quality more than quantity. A look at the followers-following ratio itself confirms this. They have a large number of followers because they entice them with the clarity in their tweets. They may not make a hundred tweets in a week, but each tweet is a valuable contribution that is of interest to the followers.
While they want to use Twitter as a platform to build their brand, they do not sell. They share. Their tweets are not written in the mode of an advertisement. They get conversational, as is the trend on Twitter tweets. When they talk about their company or business, they do not give out facts. Instead they may talk about the values that drive the company or the reason behind earning an accolade. They hold high regard for the quality of writing.
Bottom line, successful Twitter executives show humane qualities and build human relationships. They do not announce their biographical details. Instead they converse freely, keep up promises made and maybe even carry on their online networking to real world networking by conceding to a few invitations made by their loyal followers.

How to maximise the SEO juice from your Twitter page
Did you know that your Twitter tweets are ripe with search engine juice that you can put to use to get more marketing exposure? Of course, links you post on Twitter, including links in your bio, are automatically no-follow, meaning the search engines will follow them, but “link juice” (like Google PageRank) isn’t carried over.
That doesn’t mean the party’s over for optimising your Twitter page though. Search engines do index Twitter tweets (through “statuses” – which look like this). So how can you help ratchet your tweets up into search engine results as well as increase your number of followers?
By including relevant keywords within your title on your status pages.
Twitter creates the title for your status pages by taking up a slew of characters for itself. You can’t change that part (such as Twitter/MintTwist) but you CAN change what comes after it. There are only about 27 characters available for you to use (and you thought fitting something into 140 was tough!), but every little bit counts.
In addition to showing up in search engines, when you include keywords in the titles of your status pages, you also become more visible through Twitter’s own search interface, as well as the many search sites out there that comb through Twitter posts and tweets for certain keywords – like this:
If I were looking for twitter tips, and these tweets came up in the results, would I want to follow these people to see what else they had to share? Absolutely!
And if you click on “View Tweet” for any of these results, you’ll be taken to – surprise! The status page! Status pages are static – which means they will stay there forever unless you delete them or Twitter disappears from the face of the Earth (not likely!) – so use them to your marketing advantage and start including a few keywords in your titles and tweets.
Now that you know how to better leverage your titles and statuses, get to work and start optimising those pages with every link you post!

Utilising Twitter And Other Social Media Outlets For Seo
Twitter, Facebook and Buzz are just three of the many social media outlets where people can voice the latest news, views and pictures to a much larger audience. Twitter in particular has become an increasingly popular news medium that is being used by individuals, businesses and major broadcasters alike. It is common to see the Twitter sign on websites and also on the major news channels including BBC and CNN, but you may ask why?
The advent of wireless technology and mobile communications in general have considerably speeded up the time that people receive news, they can literally pick it up anywhere and at anytime and Twitter is generally regarded as the main source of this almost instant news. Maximum input for Twitter (known as Tweets) is a maximum of 140 characters so the ‘broadcaster’ tends to get straight to the point; busy people appreciate this condensed version of whatever interests them.
Businesses are also increasingly taking advantage of this new media outlet and use it to promote new products and services, it can also be utilised and linked into blogs as well as the business website. All this activity registers with search engines such as Google and as a result of the regular caching will generally appear in search listings when the business name is typed in, this kind of result can significantly enhance a company’s existing SEO campaign or strategy.
Like many of the Social Media sites there are guidelines which must be adhered to in order to ensure the account is not suspended. These include but are not limited to: Impersonation of others, copyright, name squatting or links to sites associated with malware or phishing. Although a user may not deliberately intend to break the rules, a suspension or account deactivation could affect the long term benefits of a planned Social Media Optimisation strategy. To get the most out of this Social Media phenomenon it may be wise to engage the services of a company who specialise in this kind of work.
The most effective way for business to enhance both their web presence and search engine ranking is to partake in a Social Media Optimisation campaign in conjunction with a Search Engine Optimisation Campaign. Using these two online marketing strategies in tandem will produce the kind of results that cannot be attained by using just one approach and ultimately produce a well rounded online marketing solution for any business that has serious ambitions for the future.

Introduction on How to Get More Sales Through Twitter
Many entrepreneurs and business owners think, and rightly so, that Twitter is like a pond full of fish, waiting to “bite” on our sales hooks. But to consider Twitter as a channel exclusively of online marketing is to have a limited vision of its possibilities. Recent surveys show that 8 out of 10 professionals are using Twitter for professional networking. And as this example, much more can be said and done in Twitter: communicating important developments, showing admiration, support, but also complaining, making negative comments, and undermining online reputation of a brand or a company.
To sell on Twitter, there is only one golden rule: don’t sell, which doesn’t mean not to do self-promotion. The keyword is networking, and that’s exactly it. Imagine going to a party. From the moment you enter, you greet people by saying “Hi, I’m John Smith. Please let me show you our latest deals of first line laptops that we have to offer …” Most likely you’ll soon be isolated in a corner, probably standing next to the snack table, because no one would want to speak with you. People go to a party –mostly- with a festive mood for fun, meet new people and have an enjoyable experience. For this same reason they go to Twitter, with a plus that they can also be informed, and that is the side that renders best results for promotional purposes.
Basically, click on Twitter login button with the following in mind. We should recur to Twitter to:
Learn how your niche is. Take Twitter search functions and tweet your keywords. Within minutes you can know about business trends and take a look at those aspects of greatest interest, concern, or motivation for consultations are on what you do.
Relate. Not only with sales leaders. Think of Twitter as a platform for ongoing professional growth, along with other websites such as Linked In and Plaxo and the rest of the social media. These are the most direct means to access material which is going to help plan strategic actions. Meet other colleagues and professionals, and, undoubtedly, your activity will be enriched by contributions from others.
Twitter’s also a useful tool to “scan” what your direct competitors are doing, in a much more dynamic and updated way by simply visiting their sites. See how they relate themselves and this will provide valuable information.
Learn what your potential customers think, what are market trends, what are your current needs and interests.
Open doors. Anyone who believes that sale process is a direct path between advertisement and the buying decision is wrong. Perhaps you relate to someone today, and this contact will result in a sale only after some time.
As shown, these actions are rather “passive”, but fundamental. You can do them without sending a single Tweet. The conclusion to be drawn is that to succeed in social networks, the ability to listen is essential. Firstly, get informed, and learn to listen. There will be plenty of time to tweet later.

Link Building Campaign ? Maximize Your Corporate Presence Online-Tips From SEO Consulting Experts In Florida
We live in a commercial society dominated by the power of the Internet, which isn’t all of a bad thing. For many businesses and brands, the Internet still seems to be an untamed beast that they haven’t used at their advantage yet. Maximizing your presence in the online community is a big step forward and can certainly help you reach new audiences and build up a bigger clientele. A great strategy to do so is to use Link Building Campaigns to optimize your impact on the World Wide Web.
Link Building is defined as being the process during which inbound links to one’s website are created. This strategy will allow you to be listed on a variety of websites such as e-zines, newsletters, directories and search engines, for example. The main advantage of a Link Building Campaign is that it considerably increases your visibility and exposure – this will attract more relevant traffic on your website which will give a certain increase in sales and profit. The most efficient and current Link Building strategies are Social Bookmarking and Twitter feed of a blog.
Social bookmarking is a method used by Internet users to search, organize, share and manage bookmarks. This is usually done on a public website, as opposed to traditional bookmarking, which only consists of saving an address you want to revisit later on your computer. Most users will add tags of selected keywords to their bookmarks to increase their search ability. When you visit a social bookmarking site, you can search for bookmarks by keywords, person or popularity and see all the public bookmarks that have been created by other users.
As mentioned above, another current and efficient Link Building Campaign strategy is to use Twitter feeds for your blog. Most of the population is now familiar with the concept of Twitter, which is another popular social networking site to follow the formula of sites like Facebook and Myspace. Twitter regroups an incredible amount of users and offers them the possibility to touch base with an astonishing number of potential customers through blog feeds. Of course the obvious method would be to tweet about your blog every time your update it but you can also automatically feed your blog to your twitter with the help of twitter feed. This can greatly increase your visibility in the online community and is a great tool for Link Building Campaigns.
The line is pretty thin between good link building and bad link building and it can be easy to destroy your brand and image by building bad links or spamming websites. Submitting your link to more useless paid directories than necessary can result in frustrating costs that can be easily avoided. Spamming forums by listing too many websites in your signature file can get yourself penalized or even banned from those forums, and the same applies to Blog websites. Signing blog posts with keywords instead of your real signature is not going to get you a good reputation and can destroy your Link Building Campaign.

Twitter Launches PROMOTED ACCOUNTS
Twitter has been bringing revolution in the world of social networking with the series of serious updates. The new Twitter offers users with exciting new features that will let them make the most out of their Twitter experience. There has always been a lust of getting more and more followers on Twitter by accounts that were maintained by companies. Twitter now focuses on such users and offers the “Promoted Accounts” product for their convenience today.
The IAB Conference in New York is going to mark the unveiling of this innovative product. The process is pretty simple as stated by All Things Digital: business can now pay Twitter to be included in the “Who to Follow” feature provided by Twitter already. This is going to let brands have better visibility and therefore increased number of follower altogether.
The Promoted Accounts plan leaked a couple of months back when the concept was being debated amongst officials in Twitter. There were discussions related to the advantages and disadvantages of the very concept. The initiative taken back then has been developed into practice now. The Promoted Tweets are already going for $100000 so far and that is what drove Twitter to consider the “Promoted Accounts” option as well. Every brand desires to have more followers and better influence.
The Promoted Accounts will work the same as Promoted Tweets and the algorithms are going to decide the suggestions for users to follow. Users will have Promoted Accounts suggestions according to their followings already on the platform in order to make sure that everything that you get to have as a “Who to follow” option is of your interest in one way or the other.
Reporters tried to make something out of Twitter officials in order to have more details but it seems everyone has to wait for the IAB Conference due to get all the details.

What Can Be The Search Algorithm for Twitter Search?
I was searching for a post using Twitter search and it just came to my mind, what algorithm the search can use to give quality results. As of now, Twitter finds keywords in the text of the most recent Tweet. Often, the search results are repetitive or duplicate and not much relevant to the keywords. Jayaram, VP, Operations for Twitter (an ex-Googler) hopes to change all that by taking Twitter search beyond this, by looking at the pages people are linking to within their Tweets. A Twitter crawler will visit the links, index the page and then correlate that 3rd-party content with the Tweet itself. This should help make for more relevant Twitter search results.
This also made me think of more ways the algorithm can be set and I started comparing the organic search engine algorithms with Twitter search, and I have come up with these few assumptions.
Follower counts: I guess follower counts do not really matter as an important factor to be considered in the search algorithm. It really does not prove, if you have thousands of followers, you contribute quality tweets. And, if I have very few followers, it is not that my tweets are quality tweets.
Synergy of Tweets: I think the synergy of your tweets and that of your followers and that of your followers’ followers, should be considered as a factor. (In organic SEO – To have links on websites which have similar content and the link building strategy).
Groupies: Say, most of the employees of a corporate are on Tweeter and they follow one another, then this really forms a closed group with known people together exchange good, informative and quality tweets.
Tweet and URL Synergy: The synergy between the tweet and the web page that is linked in the tweet should matter. Just the case in PPC ads – the text ad and the landing page should talk the same thing.
Frequency of Tweets: You already know the more you tweet, the lower the tweet goes on your follower’s account and the lesser the visibility it gets. And the tweet gets diluted in the number of tweets you have.
Age of Tweet: The latest the tweet, the important is the update. But, how the tweet-bot will identify the spammy tweet to the original tweet is a big question.
Tweet Favorite: It will really add value to the tweet, if the tweet has been marked as favorite by other folks. Bookmarking?
Subscribing RSS: Yes, your tweets will be really important if you people subscribe them through RSS. People really will like you to know your updates instantaneously.
Keyword Density: The density of the keyword among all the tweets over a period of time can be considered as a factor. You may know a lot of information about the keyword and are tweeting about the same and the updates can be informative. Or should it consider the density of the keyword in that particular tweet?
Age of Tweet account: It does not matter when you created an account in twitter and when you have started tweeting. There can be many accounts which have been created and yet no tweets but, the handle can have followers. Tweets from such handles can’t be quality ones.
Re-tweets: Just to spam and get more clicks, there will be people who just re-tweet the same thing again and again. So, this has to be take care of and should not be considered for ranking. Rather it should be considered as spam. Also, linking the same url to different tweets should be spamming.
IP Address: It should note the no. of handles or IDs being logged in from the same IP address. People may have multiple IDs and would be using to promote their website using them. Such IDs need to be penalized.
Geo-targeted: Track the IPs of the users they are tweeting from or logging from. And show the results to the members who are searching from that geo areas. This way the results are geo-targeted.
Demographic profile: Twitter can have an advantage here over Google. They can target the ads or websites as per the demographic profile – age, gender, place, income etc.
These are just my assumptions and thinking. And I would like you to come up with your points and opinion as well to make this post very informative.
But one thing that is most important is, Twitter can be an enormous source of traffic to a website if it is handled well in the social media more so in Twitter.

5 SEO tips for PR professionals and marketers
Inbound links are basically votes that are cast for your website. Each inbound link is a vote for you and your content, and in this democratized world of SEO the more quality votes you have, the more likely your site will turn up in search results. Here are 5 tips to help you get more quality inbound links to your site.
1. Link to your website from your blog correctly
Your blog is a great source for new content that engages your audience. It’s also a great place to include well crafted links to your website. A well crafted link consists of two things: the anchor text and the link.
The anchor text is the clickable text in a hyperlink. The link is the address of the page you are linking to. In search engines, both of these items have a “vote”.
Anchor text in a hyperlink is used by search engines to figure out what the linked page is about. For example, if I link to media database, it gives the Cision Media Database page a “vote” for the term “media database” as well as an inbound link from this blog.
A common mistake people make is linking words such as “Click here.” “Click here” doesn’t tell search engines anything about the page it’s linked to and is a wasted opportunity to gain some valuable SEO.
2. Link to your website from press releases correctly
Using the same linking concepts above, you can add well crafted links to your press releases and gain the inbound links from every site that posts your releases. One release can result in dozens of new inbound links!
3. LinkedIn
LinkedIn, has a Websites section under your profile where you can add up to three links to sites of your choice. Learn how to add website links to LinkedIn. There’s a little bit of a debate on how SEO friendly these links are, but if search engines pick up on these links they are a great opportunity to get three inbound links from a great domain.
4. Facebook & Twitter
Facebook and Twitter are great places to share content and ideas with other people. Unfortunately all links in these sites are automatically tagged to not count as inbound links for SEO.
Making friends and getting followers and engaging with them increases the probability that they will link to your content though. When they take that link out of Twitter or Facebook and share it on a blog or website, you get free publicity plus the benefits of increased SEO. Do the same for them and have that SEO karma come around full circle.
5. Digg
If you happen to know about Digg, you know that it can be tough to reach the front page of it (unless your post is about a new way of wrapping something in bacon). But if you happen to have a post that becomes popular and reaches the front page, it will get search engine credit and be a great inbound link. A key to making the front page of Digg is to have a lot of friends on Digg and tell them when you have a new story posted.

Try a Twitter Competition
When my partner advised running a competition to get more folks to visit our web site, I did not think it might work that well, I mean, who actually cares about competitions these days? Well, it seems many of us do and if you can add some price to it by giving something away that people actually want or is seen as valuable – you can actually rope in the attention and the customers.
Many companies offer free gifts in return for doing something really simple, but what about giving away something with business value? Well, many home businesses are fighting currently and as everyone knows, when a business is on the ropes, the first thing the owners usually invest in is a new brand or trademark, but would that really ‘sell’?
I looked into it and it would seem it works – and how!
Competitions are won and lost by the cost of the prizes, but value is extraordinarily subjective and if you manage to offer something that a company would likely have to spend a lot of cash on then you’re certain to make a ‘buzz’. In our case, we are offering a new trademark, essentially a new ‘brand’ and this may cost many thousands for some organisations.
The news is scattered with firms allocating many thousands of pounds on re-brands, who can remember ‘British Telecom’ transforming into ‘BT’?
And so it seems that a way to supply price is to deliver something that gives an unsubstantial worth. Let us take the ‘BT/British Telecom’ example. At the time is seemed like a breezy waste of cash, however there were massive benefits in its capability to be a global brand.
Just cutting off the ‘British’ has essentially authorized the company to prosper in nations aside from the United Kingdom and it is now a global force rather than simply a state one.
Andy Calloway is the director of SEO Training at Calloway Green Ltd, a web development and SEO consultancy in the West Midlands, UK. We provide a good range of SEO services and search engine optimisation to companies of all sizes.
