Blog Commenting as a form of Link Building

Admin, August 5, 2011

A lot of people when they think about doing blog comments they most likely think of a negative way of doing link building. But when doing blog commenting the correct way it is actually a good way to get some extra backlinks.

The reason why people think it is spamming is because a lot of people misuse this technique as a quick way of getting a massive amount of backlinks, with all of the software and bot’s to leave comments on blog posts. You will often see comments like “Thanks for the post I found it useful information” obviously this is spam if you see a link at the end of it. This is similar to people doing forum posts just to get the link from their signature posted.

To do blog commenting the correct way it is pretty simple, take time to read the blog post and when you make a comment make it relevant to what the post is about, do not make the mistake of just reading the title of the blog post to save time and making a comment just from that. Because most likely your comment may be a bit off topic and you risk getting your comment deleted or not approved. Also another important part is making sure that the blog post is do follow, you will find that majority of the blog posts are no follow. There are a few ways to find out if a blog post Is do follow, you can either check the page source and look for the do follow tag on other comments, or there are various IE add-ons or Firefox add-ons that highlight no follow links.

There are a few other important aspects of blog commenting to maximize the effect, obviously a higher pagerank blog post to leave a comment on will give you a larger benefit, but also if you are able to find a blog post that relates to the page you are promoting is even better. If you leave a blog comment on a pet blog post and your site is about games most likely the effect will be minimal.

Now you may ask where can I find these blog’s to leave comments on. This is the hard part, you could do some searching in Google but it can take a lot of time. The ideal way to find do follow blog posts is getting one of the various blog finding software programs. I won’t promote any specific programs but if you do a search in Google for “Blog Commenting software” you will get an idea. But I would stay away from those automatic blog commenting program’s as they have spamming methods. You want to look for program’s that simply search for do follow blogs and you can search by keywords.

If you take the time and leave meaningful blog comments on do follow blogs you can find yourself with some extra backlinks.

A Review Of Brian?s Threaded Comments WordPress Plugin ? A Simple Addition That Can Spell A World Of Difference For Your Blog

Admin, March 21, 2011

One of the best features of a blog is its power to enable visitors to leave their comments about a particular entry.  This feature is, in fact, what makes blogs amazing options for marketing purposes.  Comments transform blogs from being more than mere content management systems to being interactive tools that can build great relationships between blog owners (the businessman) and his readers (the businessman’s prospects).

Just imagine what this comments feature can do:

-          By enabling visitors to leave their comments, blog owners can garner essential feedback and suggestions on how to make their blogs and their businesses better.

-          By allows visitors to leave their comments, businessmen can transform their blogs into efficient post-sales service tools for technical or purchase-related support.

-          Comments are also good for SEO purposes.  They provide the dynamic, constantly updated content that search engines love.  As a result, search engine spiders are more likely to visit blog pages where comments are enabled and activities are high.

The problem with WordPress blogs is that their comments feature is pretty straightforward.  People comment, and their words are published right below the blog entry, and that’s it.  Several comments will merely form a series of text, arranged in the order of when they were posted.

No other options are provided.

Thankfully, Brian’s Threaded Comments was invented.

Brian’s Threaded Comments is a WordPress plugin that provides a wonderful solution to the dull and limited functionality of WordPress’ default commenting system.  Brian’s Threaded Comments, as its name implies, allows blog owners to automatically arrange comments into threads for easy reference and management.

Readers of a blog entry who wish to post a comment will have 2 options:

To create a new “thread” that will invite further discussions about an aspect of the topic they want to introduce; or Post a comment in an existing thread that already discusses the aspect of the topic they want to react to.

Sounds simple, right?

However, this added option opens up a world of marketing possibilities.

For example, businessmen can now use their blogs’ comment section as a ticket system where concerns about the product or service can be shared via a thread and the businessman himself or one of his staff members can answer such concerns on their respective threads.

Also, businessmen can now make each blog entry a mini-forum by itself.  Threaded comments work like online bulletin boards, after all, where posts are organized according to topics and according to categories.

Most importantly, as many users of the Brian’s Threaded Comments WordPress plugin have attested to, this add-on builds a sense of community amongst the readers.  The organized nature of the comments section somehow invites them to participate and to look forward to future blog entries where they can also interact with the author and with one another.

The lifeblood of any blog lies in its readership, and Brian’s Threaded Comments Worpress plugin will ensure that your readers will be contented enough to come back over and over and again to enjoy your updates.

How You Can Increase Blog Traffic Easily,

Admin, March 21, 2011

Most things really worth doing need more than one step to achieve. Blog commenting which might be tedious and take time, planning and sticking with it through a number of phases over extended time periods is definitely worth the effort.

Setting out to increase blog traffic isn’t any exception. Here’s the best way to do just that in five easy steps.

Step 1. Commenting On Blogs.

This is really crucial since it builds your reputation as a blogger and positions you as a expert. Blog commenting also gives you immediate traffic to your blog from the blog owner and also the blog readers. If you don’t really do that step, you will not be able to create backlinks to your blog which increases your Google Page Rank.

Step 2. Look For Relevant Blogs To Comment On.

This can be a very important step. It demands concentration along with your full attention. It might be best if you could do it in this way: search for blogs in your niche and bookmark them for commenting on them later. Here are 3 websites to start searching for blogs in your niche;

Google Blog Search
Technorati
Ice Rocket Blog Search

You could also set up Google Alerts for the categories you blog about.

Step 3. Look For Blog Communities.

The reason behind this is to have fun and connect with other bloggers. You can find blog communities at;

MyBlogLog
Blogcatalogue
Network Blogs on Facebook

Step 4. Maximize Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

To explain and elaborate on that a little.

Find another blog post on the same subject you just wrote about and link directly back to your new post. Make sure that you copy the exact link from your new post.
Comment on 3 – 5 blog posts that are about what you have just written about.
Make sure to use the keyword or keyword phrase that you used as a tag in your blog post and put it in the first sentence of the post that you are commenting on.

For example: Let’s say my keyword is “network marketing tool.” I could write in the commenting box that, “Blogging is a great network marketing tool.” Make sure that when you do this that your comment makes sense. Don’t keyword stuff your comment.

Step 5. Great Commenting Tips.

Furthermore, get a gravatar so that your picture shows up when you add your email address in your comments. A gravatar is a small picture that you see besides peoples comments. Go to http://en.gravatar.com/

When commenting write about the “buzz” and have a strong opinion good or bad. No one wants to read boring comments such as; ‘yeah me too or great comment, or thanks for the article. This is where your expertise stands out. Comment on what you know. People can always see through a fake. So be authentic!

By the end, if you have stuck with the above tips completely, you will have succeeded and now can settle-back and enjoy the benefits of your success. You could be a little bit pleased with yourself and self-satisfied! You achieved what you set out to try and do!

NoFollow Or DoFollow – What Is Better For Your Blog?

Admin, March 1, 2011

Blogging and Networking through blogging have become big business in the last five to ten years. With the release of ready-made Content Management Systems (CMS) such as WordPress, blogging is now something that anyone who has expertise on any subject can now do. In the blogging world, a tremendous amount of information and content is produced each and every day and released to the public in the form of posts that cover any and all topic imaginable. Topics covering science, technology, business, politics and any other subject that is being talked about. That being said, a tremendous amount of money is involved through topical advertising. One of the largest forms of blog advertising is Search Engine Marketing (SEM). A blog that ranks well in search engines for competitive and high paying keywords is a potentially very lucrative piece of virtual real estate. Key to having a website or blog that ranks competitively or with a high Search Engine Results Page (SERP) is it’s backlink structure.

Comment Spam. Since the discovery of the importance of a comprehensive and natural as well as extensive backlinking structure, any and all techniques for gaining backlinks pointing go one’s site has been and continues to be exploited by webmasters. Some are ethical, others are not so ethical. Whatever the technique that is used, backlinking is a must if a blogger is going to compete in today’s search engine market.

One form of backlinking that has been used extensively is commenting on blogs. It is very common for blogging platforms written in PHP to have commenting set up so that the name of the visiting commenter is turned into a hyperlink pointing to their URL of choice. For this reason, commenting on blogs changed from a method of interacting socially and professionally to a method that focused on Search Engine Optimization (SEO), a field of study at the heart of SEM. Over time, the value of blog comments because so high that wares were written specifically for the automation of this process.

NoFollow and DoFollow. Links by their very nature are dofollow, meaning that a webmaster places a link on their site pointing to another site that they consider a relevant resource. This expression of relevancy has great value. Once this value was understood by webmasters, blog owners began to be and continue to be over-run by automated commenting bots released onto the net for the sole purposed of embedding links to be indexed by search engines knowing that these links would be counted as votes of relevancy towards the site receiving the link. This eventually gave rise to the nofollow tag, a tag designed around and agreed upon by the major search engines as a means to eliminate the effectiveness of this technique. After the creation of the recognized nofollow attribute, commenting on blogs lost much of it’s perceived value. That being said, having a blog without the nofollow attribute applied can and still is a great way to attract SEO savvy visitors if done correctly.

Comments and Lists. Removing the nofollow attribute is a great way to attract visitors and build your list if you are an email marketer, but a few clever steps need to be taken if a blogger is going to avoid being overrun by bots. The first thing to do is to remove your nofollow tag from your comments. If you are using WordPress, this can be done easily by installing the NoFollowFree Plugin. This removes the nofollow attribute from any part of the comment be it the name or links that appear in the comment itself. Next, install the SI Captcha Plugin. This completely eliminates bots from overrunning your blog and commenting on it.

Trading Links for Emails. Now you have to even the playing field by prompting commenters to join you mailing list in exchange for their dofollow link. Again, this is easy to do if you are running WordPress because there are two plugins available specifically for this purpose. The plugin you would use depends on what mailing service you use as means of managing and blasting your list. If you use a third party such as GetResponse you would of course use the OptinComments plugin for WordPress. If you are using a self hosted mail list manager such as PHPList so as to save yourself the monthly mailing service fee, you can essentially do the same thing with the PHPList Comments plugin for WordPress. Both plugins do very well.

Linking Freely. Personally, I believe in linking freely. I have removed the nofollow attribute from my blog and link to visitor sites that I consider relevant and useful to my other visitors. I have enjoyed doing so and will continue to do so indefinitely. With the SI Captcha and email capturing plugins installed, I am building my list at the same time.

3 Effective Ways to Drive Crowd on Your Website or Blog

Admin, March 1, 2011

After creating a website or a blog, next step is fetching traffic. If an online business lacks visitors, it will not survive for a long time. Your website or blog should get a consistent amount of traffic every day, so that you can provide them information about your business and hopefully convert your visitors to buyers.

Below are 3 most valuable and important technique, which will drive massive traffic to your site.

1. Commenting on Blogs – I love this method of marketing. If it is done carefully, you can build a good image and people will start trusting you. It is easy to comment on blogs. All you need is look for a relevant blog and start commenting, but be careful while commenting – don’t just go over the blog and start spamming, leave a comment about what you liked about the blog post and what have you learn from it. You should participate nicely in the blog comments box and you will see some fields where you can fill you name and blog or website URL. Once your comment is moderated and published, people will be able to click your URL that you have entered under the comment and they will end up on your blog.

2 . Social Media Marketing – Start marketing your website or blog on Facebook and twitter. These 2 sites are to the most popular social networking sites. If your website content is interesting, people will share your website with their friends & this causes a viral effect. This way you can get free traffic on your site.

3. Search Engine Optimization – Search engine optimization(SEO) is about writing articles for search engines for them to improve your ranking in the search engines. You need to write so that search engine spiders which look for your main keywords, keyword density, your back links & so on. In case you write well, search engines will then rank your articles high. Social media marketing will also help you in SEO. SEO is very important, if your site is optimized properly – you can get monster traffic to your site.

How to run and moderate a follow blog on your website

Admin, February 24, 2011

Increasingly, people seem to be removing “rel=nofollow” from their blog comments.

The main reason for doing this is to increase both traffic and comments.  A blog without comments seems rather a desolate place, and people are more likely to comment if there is SEO benefit for them.

The down side of this, however, is that most of their traffic is going to be SEOs pretending to be their client, rather than the intended audience.  That said, as people become more aware of the link building side of SEO, then hopefully people will learn that they can do this for themselves, rather than pay an SEO to post on their behalf.

Here are some tips to keep control over your follow blog:

1. Moderate all Posts
Whatever you do, don’t let people post straight to your site as any reasonable points will be lost in a mountain of spam.

2. Have strict moderation.
Don’t publish any posts which fail to add to the conversation.
This especially means generic ones which say “Love the post”, trying to flatter you.
Your post might be brilliant, but they are more likely just lying for the link.

3. Insist on real names, not keyphrases.
You don’t want people to have the name “Cheap Iphones” – even Frank Zappa would not call his children that.  Something like “Kevin, SEO for Cheap Iphones” is at least an honest name, and helps build up a feel of a community, rather than a spammers convention.

4. Turn off comments on old posts.
You probably only need to do this if you are getting overwhelmed with spammy comments, but a blog is generally to reflect your recent opinions, and you probably do not want to moderate a discussion from months, even years, ago.

5. Only allow people to post links who work in a similar area.
This means that you can build up a community of people who work in the field your blog is about.  Most blogs don’t appeal to everyone, so only allow comments from your intended audience.

6. Check IP addresses
If the same IP is posting many links, then they are likely to be simply spamming on behalf of clients. Ban IPs which do this.
